Carpenteria Camillo Mastronardi comes from a long tradition of blacksmiths, who have handed it down with passion and competence for generations. In fact, our business began in 1914, a century ago, when my great-grandfather, Domenico, started to work as a blacksmith in a small shop in Stigliano, a village in Basilicata.

When he died, my grandfather Antonio took up the family job, and when he came back from WWII, he managed to open a small independent forge, where, a few years later, his son, the little Domenico - who would later become my father - began to work. Since he wanted to hone his skills in a large city, my father convinced his parents to move family and business to Florence, so he could study first at the technical industrial high school and later at the mechanical engineering faculty, without ever stopping working together with his father.

Though he continued to work at my grandfather’s forge in Via delle Sciabbe, Domenico graduated in 1979 and the following year established his own business, Ditta Ing. Mastronardi Domenico, in San Donnino in Via del Fosso No. 7. He stayed there until 1980, when, due to lack of space, the company moved to San Piero a Sieve, in Via Casenuove Taiuti, where he remained until 2010. Though continuing to help my father at the forge, I decided to go on studying. After graduating from high school as an expert mechanic, I graduated in Linguistic and Multimedia Communication at the University of Letters and Philosophy of Florence.

In 2011, though I had studied the humanities, my passion for the traditional business of my family drove me to work with metals, and since then I have been working exclusively for private customers. Today, Carpenteria Camillo Mastronardi is a dynamic company, able to satisfy the needs of our customers. The primary goal of the company is to offer a high quality of products and services, while always keeping an excellent quality/price ratio.

2018 Mastronardi is rewarded at Palazzo Vecchio, the historic seat of the town government, as one of the 100 historic businesses of Florence.
